Early Victorian Christmas at Blandwood

The Early Victorian Period in Greensboro was one of growth and change, as new educational and industrial opportunities brought a greater diversity of traditions and customs to the region. During this period, holiday festivities evolved and changed as modest “backwoods” practices began to embrace national and international traditions. Explore Blandwood to learn about evolving mid-nineteenth-century holiday traditions. The landmark is fully decorated in local and period greenery, as if prepared for a grand Christmas Ball! Guided tours are offered during museum hours, and group tours are encouraged.

Normal tour hours and admission will apply. Blandwood Museum is open for Christmas tours beginning Thursday November 10 on a schedule of Tuesday through Saturday from 11am till 4pm, and on Sundays from 2pm till 5pm. Closed all Mondays.

Special Days: Blandwood Museum will be closed on Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Day; and New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1st – Wednesday, January 4th. We are open Christmas Eve. The house will re-open for regular tours on Thursday, January 5th, 2023.
