Guilford County’s Early Textile History
September 16, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Guilford County has long been recognized for its industrial heritage, but did you know that some historians trace North Carolina’s industrial awakening to one early Guilford resident? From Greensboro, the seeds of North Carolina’s textile history in the Carolina Piedmont were sewn. Few industries had an impact on our cultural landscape – both in Guilford County and other counties – as the textile industry. Learn more about the role Guilford County held in launching North Carolina’s industrial revolution, and discover its impact on manufacturing around the state.
Randolph County Historian Mac Whatley will present “Guilford County’s Early Textile Heritage” in a specially-illustrated Powerpoint presentation. Mac serves as the historian with the Randolph County Library and serves on the Randolph Historic Preservation Commission. This event will debut on PGI Facebook and PGI YouTube pages on Thursday, September 16 at 6 pm and is free to the public as part of our year-long monthly series celebrating Guilford County’s 250th birthday!
In order to watch this special presentation, please check our Youtube page or our Facebook page after 6pm September 16th.
