Blandwood In-Depth Live on Facebook: Decorative Arts

The decorative arts at Blandwood reveal an astonishing amount about changing tastes in America during the first half of the nineteenth century, as taste makers pivoted from Roman Classical to Greek Classical and French inspirations. Blandwood features a remarkable collection of pieces that are original to the house and family known as “The Morehead Collection.”. The tour will be held on Facebook Live, accessed through our Preservation Greensboro or Blandwood Facebook pages. We will highlight a number of pieces from this Collection, and provide context for their inspiration in terms of form and craftsmanship. Blandwood’s resident Decorative Arts Historian Judith Cushman Hammer will lead this tour.
