College Park Tour (Saturday Morning)
October 29, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
NEW! This tour will focus on the charming Period Revival architecture of the 1920s and 1930s found in and around Walker Avenue. Exotic styles, including English Tudor, French, Spanish, and Italian styles made their way into Greensboro in the second decade of the twentieth century. The styles were, perhaps, a result of in-creased travel across the continent as well as the Atlantic, which did much to raise American’s awareness of far off lands and distant places. The College Park neighborhood featuires many examples of this period of architecture.
This tour is part of the year-long celebration of Preservation Greensboro’s 50th year of service to the community. Learn about history, personalities, and architectural features on an walking tour led by Preservation Greensboro’s Urban Guide Ryan Gray. You will gain insights on the architecture, history, and character-defining features of the neighborhood. Tours will take a little over an hour depending on questions.
Meet at 11am. Rain or shine, cancelled only if thunder is heard. Wear comfortable shoes! This tour is FREE.
