The Motown Lowdown: Reflections on today’s Detroit Renaissance
January 17, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
On his recent cross-country trip, Richard Gantt, art historian retired from the UNCG Department of Art, was certain to plan a stop in Detroit! “The city and environs of Detroit were top destinations,” he explained, “the area being loaded with important architecture, industrial design, and fine art.” He and his architect friend Tom explored the highlights of the Motor City, and he left with some surprising observations and delightful discoveries.
Enjoy a special evening learning of Richard’s reflections on his Detroit experiences in anticipation of our own “Detroit Pop Up” trip scheduled for June 7-9, 2019. In keeping with our theme of arts and architecture, this event will be held in Greensboro’s own fabulous 1954 Loewenstein House – a natural tie to the Cranbrook House & Gardens on our tour! Seating is limited, so please RSVP for attendance.
This FREE event will be held in a private home, please contact Judi (link below) for details.
