Seventh Annual Tour of Historic Homes & Gardens: Fisher Park
May 21, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Tour Homes will be open 11am – 5pm Saturday; 1pm – 5pm Sunday
Preservation Greensboro’s Seventh Annual Tour of Historic Homes & Gardens will feature a selection of vintage homes in the Fisher Park neighborhood in May as part of National Historic Preservation Month. The tour will highlight stunning features of early twentieth-century architecture that include key themes in American architecture. Participants will gain insights into local history, horticulture, and design.
“Fisher Park is referenced as one of the state’s premier streetcar suburbs,” says Benjamin Briggs, Executive Director of Preservation Greensboro. “It was launched with the dedication of Greensboro’s streetcar line in 1902, and the gift of the central park space led to the Gate City’s first official public park space. In addition to social history, the neighborhood features textbook examples of twentieth-century architecture designed by regionally and nationally prominent architects ranging from Hobart Upjohn, to Greensboro’s ownWells brewer, Harry Barton, and Charles Hartmann.”
Vintage homes in the Fisher Park neighborhood will open their doors to ticket holders during Preservation Greensboro’s annual Tour of Historic Homes & Gardens May 20-21. The tour highlights stunning features of early twentieth century architecture.
The tour is the flagship fundraiser for Preservation Greensboro. For more information visit our tour webpage.
