Restore Explore Connect: History of Greensboro and its Architecture

Preservation Greensboro is planning an exciting Lecture Series in early 2017 that will focus on Architecture, the Decorative Arts, and History in the Gate City and Guilford County. The series will take place week nights, and will be presented by scholars and experts who have studied the unique facets of our history that makes our community a remarkable place to live.
We have a great storyline spanning 300 years of history here in our corner of the world. Why not learn more about it? Benjamin Briggs is Preservation Greensboro’s Executive Director, and he will provide a visual review of the history of Guilford County and especially Greensboro with a particular focus on architectural styles and themes that are celebrated in our city. This is an encore presentation from Preservation North Carolina’s Annual Meeting held in Greensboro in September 2016. Topics will include early settlement, architectural history, seminal events, and earliest preservation initiatives. Benjamin has contributed to O.Henry Magazine and The High Point Enterprise,WFDD and WUNC radio, WGHP Fox8 and WFMY News 2, and wrote a book on the Architecture of High Point in 2008. 1.5 hours
