Hillside Estate, A Designer Showhouse
April 6 @ 8:00 am - April 30 @ 5:00 pm
We are excited to introduce you to “Hillside,” the historic Julian Price home, slated as Greensboro’s next Designer Showhouse sponsored by Preservation Greensboro Incorporated.
Scheduled for April 2018 in Greensboro, North Carolina, Preservation Greensboro is seeking sponsorships to coordinate a signature event with the nearby High Point Market. The goal of this event is to raise awareness of historic preservation by celebrating a site of statewide significance here in Greensboro, and to raise funds to meet our mission to build thriving communities by protecting and renewing our historic and architectural treasures.
Hillside is an historic mansion located amidst the well-preserved, tree-lined Fisher Park neighborhood and is just blocks from downtown Greensboro. The house was designed by noted architect Charles C. Hartmann and was built in 1928 for the Insurance executive Julian Price. The four-story, 31-room residence of Tudor Revival architecture spans 7,266 square-feet on its wooded lot. It features a three-story polygonal stair tower, red-brown rough fired brick, and half-timbering with tan stucco.
Hillside has generated considerable press to this point due to the ambitious renovation by its new owners after years of disrepair. All upgrades will adhere to the home’s inscription to the National Register of Historic Places. The property is in remarkably good condition for its circumstances. Exterior landscaping originally designed by Robert D. Cridland of Philadelphia covers almost two acres.
